When will MASH be implemented for Attenuators?

It’s now time to futureproof your equipment!

According to our resources at both ATSSA and IRF were we have had contact with different specialists that attend conferences with in different states interpreting MASH regulations.

In our current understanding it is up to the individual states to implement these dates mentioned within the MASH regulations. In our interpretations (and we believe most states are interpreting it this way) would be that Truck Mounted Attenuators (TMA) fall in the temporary work zone devices category and would have to be MASH complaint by December 31, 2019.

However some states are categorizing Truck Mounted Attenuators (TMA) in the crash cushion / barrier category, which has a implementation date of December 31, 2018.
